GIDDYUP combines the classic taste of root beer with a malt beverage that provides hours of energy.
Every day in the United States, more than 7,000 children under 16 start drinking, and young people under 21 account for as much as 20% of all the alcohol consumed here. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 4,000 young people under the age of 21 die from alcohol-related causes each year. Flavored alcoholic beverages, like the one advertised above, target those teenage drinkers.
**On a side note, the alcohol industry says they manufacture these flavored alcoholic beverages for "beginners" and "entry-level drinkers." Well the average age of "beginners" and "entry-level drinkers" in the United States is 13, so I think it's safe to say these drinks are not intended to appeal to drinkers of the legal drinking age (21 and up).
