While FF Unit is FF Meta’s “grown up sister”, FF Unit Slab and FF Meta Serif are more like second cousins. While FF Meta’s seriffed companion plays up all of the organic quirks found in the original sans, FF Unit Slab’s serifs are decidedly no-nonsense and un-selfconscious. The sturdy and plain forms of the original lent themselves to a very straightforward serif treatment, inspired in part by mid-20th century typewriters, particularly where serifs have been left off of the left sides of stems to keep the counterforms open.

2006 Camp Date-Nite Frame

Every year at our student ministry summer camp - we have 'Date Nite' on the first night of camp. Last year's date nite theme was 70's, soul train, hippie-esque; Campers and Counselors all dress up, we learn dances from the era ... and 2 or 3 younger kids are paired up with 2 or 3 older kids - and we take a group picture of them and then I take them and put them in the date nite *frame* -- which we then take to walmart and have 8x10's printed for them to take home with them on the last day of camp; (this photo is of our youth minister and his wife ... his wig was excellent!)

This is just a fun thing we do ... every year we try to make the *frame* a little funky and something that the kids will actually KEEP as a memory from camp that year!
