After setting up dual monitors, I had to try to match the colour quality and it certainly caused major problems this morning.
I ended up dragging my Photoshop screen back and forth to adjust each and as a result, created this image while doing it.

I hope that everybody is having a great Monday and Milo thanks the entire cat population of the Flickr World for taking a look at him, plus all external WWW visitors that stopped in. Thank you.

BIG HELLO from Ottawa, Canada.
Our National day (Canada Day) is July 1st. We need a World Wish for no rain, thanks.

Don't mind if i do Kenmoauc.
I would never post this but lately I've been really disappointed by the overuse and abuse of HDR software. Over saturated colors, using the HDR software to create texture that the software isn't really meant for. Turning photographs into graphic art that a 1st year art student wouldn't turn in as homework. I'm talking about the kind of images only enjoyed by someone at a motocross event drinking Redbull with a NASCAR shirt on. (I raced Motocross for years, I can say that.) I was nothing but guilty of this just a few months ago. But I'm at least trying to move on. I see photographers that have been doing this for years and are only going backwards and it really is bad for the craft in my opinion.
With that rant over; this image was throw away but I thought I would use it to make a point. This room was almost pitch black. That window was the only light source. No camera in the world could possibly capture the light in the foreground and the palm tree outside. So at least 3 exposures from -2 to +2 are required. Keep in mind it was very dark in the room but I could faintly see the green in the foreground. By overexposing one image and leaving the shutter open 2 times longer than the cameras computer suggested I was able to Over Expose the foreground making it visible. At the same time, this over exposure "blew out" the lighted areas of the background. To get the lighted areas properly exposed, I took an exposure that was 2 times faster than the camera's computer suggested and it did the trick but the foreground was totally black. Now I have the best of both worlds.
I also took one exposure (the zero) as suggested by the computer.
That's nice, what do you do with 3 different exposures? Do you cut, blend or mask them together in PhotoShop? I could but the light wouldn't match up. It would look more like a collage than a photograph. So I use special software that utilizes an algorithm designed for the purpose of combining multiple exposures. That's it? No, the High Dynamic Range image that is created by this algorithm has created colors that fall outside of the color range of our modern day monitors and printers. Oh no, what do you do next? We "tone map" and that's where the clown vomit is created. Tone mapping is a way to reintroduce the original colors and tones of the HDR image into a format that can be view on a modern monitor or printer. The idea here is to recreate the scene as it was in reality. The problem is that some photographers take a great deal of drugs or live in fantasy land because the products they're creating are not close to anything resembling the reality of physics here on Earth or visible through the lenses of even the Hubble.
Rant over.
Now, if you look in the lower left corner you will see little dots and pieces of missing information. That's because the software isn't able to reproduce areas that where so dark the overexposure couldn't even take the light out of it. In that case I could have used a longer exposure, say -3 or I could use photoshop to recreate what I think was there. The best option in this case would be to throw the image away and never let anyone see it because it's really not interesting to look at in the first place.

Ignored by corporate media, Wikileaks has exposed a CIA-linked Orwellian
thoughtcrime surveillance network that goes far beyond "suspicious activity

TRAPWIRE: SPYING ON YOU. PREDICTING YOUR MOVES.

"Hacked emails from the private intelligence firm Stratfor shed light on a
global suspicious activity surveillance system called TrapWire that is
reportedly in use in locations around the world from the London Stock
Exchange to the White House. The emails [released by WikiLeaks] provide
information on the extent and operations of a system designed to correlate
suspicious activity reports and other evidence that may indicate [a
potential crime or terrorist attack]."

publicintelligence.net/unravelling-trapwire/

A TrapWire white paper describes their offering as "a unique, predictive
software system designed to detect patterns of pre-attack surveillance. As
such, TrapWire represents the basis for a paradigm shift in the
methodologies traditionally applied to securing critical infrastructure and
personnel; a paradigm shift from the currently accepted and widely adopted
philosophy of damage mitigation through increased physical security to a new
and proactive approach of attack prevention through the identification and
disruption of pre-attack planning and surveillance activities."

www.cicc.org/pdf/TRAPWIRE_Whitepaper_generic.pdf

In other words, TrapWire is for all intents and purposes an Orwellian
thoughtcrime detection system. As their website explains, "TrapWire
detects, analyzes and alerts on suspicious events as they are collected over
periods of time and across multiple locations. Through the systematic
capture of these pre-attack indicators, terrorist or criminal surveillance
and pre-attack planning operations can be identified... There are currently
three different TrapWire systems available for public and private sector
clients:

* TW-CI (TrapWire Critical Infrastructure) focuses on the identification of
pre-operational surveillance activities occurring around specific sites
within the TrapWire Network

* TW-CM (TrapWire Community Member) supports the online reporting of
suspicious behavior by community members, such as the iWatch programs in Los
Angeles and Washington DC, and See Something Say Something in Las Vegas and
New York

* TW-LE (TrapWire Law Enforcement) provides the ability to gather, analyze
and disseminate information about surveillance and logistical activities
occurring across an entire geographic region, including information gathered
via TW CI and TW CM deployments"

TrapWire Inc. is a subsidiary of Abraxas Corporation, which founder and CEO
Richard Hollis Holms claims to be the "largest aggregate of analytical
counter-terrorism capabilities outside of the U.S. Government." A former
(?) company man himself, Helms may be implying here that only the CIA has
more CIA operatives on the payroll than he does. TrapWire is no exception,
as former (?) CIA operatives on staff there include among others:

Robert Daniel Botsch, President
Michael Thomas Maness, Director of Business Development
Michael K. Chang, Director of Operations

TrapWire took down their Who We Are and Management web pages after the
Wikileaks disclosures gave them apparently unwanted public attention, but

Speaking of being taken down, Wikileaks suffered a major DDOS (distributed
denial of service) attack shortly after the TrapWire releases were posted.
According to one observer:

'Now we have something new a group called AntiLeaks has popped up and
managed to drop a 10GB/s + DDoS attack on WikiLeaks, their affiliate sites
and mirrors. This is something pretty spectacular when you think about it.
The group claims to be a group of "young adults, citizens of the United
States of America and are deeply concerned about the recent developments
with Julian Assange and his attempt at asylum in Ecuador", but their tactics
and capabilities seems to indicate something more is going on here... Some
of the emails leaked indicate that Trapwire has extended beyond its original
scope of threat prediction and mitigation into more intrusive areas. This
is the type of information that Stratfor, the US Government and of course
Abraxas would not want to be public. Some of the data the system is
collecting could actually be in violation of privacy laws (as well as
potentially violating a few other surveillance laws). You can imagine that
with the connection to Stratfor and the US Government Abraxas has there
would be some high-level interest in keeping these emails from the public
eye. Again this would seem to put the attacks outside the realm of "young
adults" and more into the state or corporate sponsored arena.'

I agree. I think Ben Doernberg would as well:

TrapWire and/or "unknown parties" may have taken down Wikileaks in reaction
to Julian Assange's fearless and peerless team shedding the light of Truth
on their dark activities, but sadly what they DIDN'T take down is the
"TrapWire ThoughtCrime Detection Network" itself. If you work for one of
fascist Amerika's 16 national security bureaucracies or their myriad

Anonymous Operation TrapWire - Press Release Posted by ohai on August 12,
2012

Sunday - August 12, 2012 11:00 AM ET USA

Greetings Citizens of the United States of America -

This weekend, it was disclosed by Wikileaks the details about a system known
as "TrapWire" that uses facial recognition and other techniques including
high-end artificial intelligence to track and monitor individuals using
countless different closed-circuit cameras operated by cities and other
institutions, including private businesses. This program also monitors all
social media on the internet. The software is billed as a method by which to
prevent terrorism, but can of course also be used to provide unprecedented
surveillance and data-mining capabilities to governments and corporations -
including many with a history of using new technologies to violate the
rights of citizens. TrapWire is already used in New York, Los Angeles, Las
Vegas, Texas, DC, London, and other locales around the USA.

The ex-CIA agents who help run the firm are old friends of Stratfor vice
president Fred Burton, whom they've briefed on their own capabilities in
e-mails obtained by Anonymous hackers and provided to WikiLeaks. Stratfor
has engaged in several surveillance operations against activists, such as
those advocating for victims of the Bhopal disaster - on behalf of large
U.S. corporatons; Burton himelf was revealed to have advocated "bankrupting"
and "ruining the life" of activists like Julian Assange in e-mails to other
friends. TrapWire is extremely expensive to maintain, and is usually done so
at taxpayer expense; Los Angeles county alone has spent over .4 million
dollars on the software's use in a single three-month period of 2007.

Although most of the regions in which TrapWire operates don't share
information with each other, all of this is set to change; as Abraxas
Applications president Dan Botsch told Burton via e-mail, "I think over time
the different networks will begin to unite," noting that several networks
had already begun discussions on merging their information. Abraxas itself
has always had the ability to "cross-network matches" from every region at
their own office. By June 2011, Washington D.C. police were engaged in a
pilot project under the Departent of Homeland Security that's likely to lead
to more cities using TrapWire on a more integrated basis.

Abraxas, the firm whose spin-off Abraxas Applications developed TrapWire in
2007, has long been involved in a lesser-known practice known as persona
management, which involves the use of fake online "people" to gather
intelligence and/or disseminate disinformation. The firm Ntrepid, created by
Abraxas owner Cubic Corporation, won a 2010 CENTCOM contract to provide such
capabilities for use in foreign countries; several board members of Ntrepid
also sit on Abraxas.

The more we learn about TrapWire and similar systems, it becomes absolutely
clear that we must at all costs shut this system down and render it useless.
A giant AI electronic brain able to monitor us through a combination of
access to all the CCTV cameras as well as all the online social media feeds
is monstrous and Orwellian in it's implications and possibilities. The
Peoples Liberation Front and Anonymous will now put forth a call to arms,
and initiate the doom of this evil and misbegotten program. We will use the
following tactics to accomplish this goal:

1) The PLF and Anonymous will work closely with WikiLeaks and Project PM to
gather, collate, disclose and disseminate as much information as possible
about TrapWire and it's related technologies and programs. This was begun
this weekend, and already much has been learned. And they are scared of
this, already many sites and repositories of data on TrapWire are
disappearing - being taken down by those who do not want you to know the
truth about what they are doing. And WikiLeaks is at this writing enduring a
massive and historic DdoS attack in an attempt to conceal this information
from the public. We will do this not only to educate the general public
regarding TrapWire, but to move them to pressure their representatives to
shut down funding for this and similar programs of massive surveillance, and
to pass laws outlawing the creation of future projects of this type.

2) ACTION ALERT - "Smash A Cam Saturday": TrapWire has access to virtually
all CCTV's that have IP/internet connectivity. We have prepared an initial
map/database of these cameras across the USA, and we will continue to expand
this knowledge base.

bit.ly/PcByYJ

While this database is a good guide to high priority camera targets, we
encourage everyone to target any camera with IP/internet connectivity. We
are asking everyone to sabotage at least one CCTV per week on what we are
calling "Smash A Cam Saturday". We have provided this excellent manual of
different tactics and strategies for disabling or destroying these "eyes of
the beast".

bit.ly/1Qjp

3) As stated above, this "monster" doesn't just have eyes that need gouging
out - it also has "ears". TrapWire constantly monitors social media. In a
strange twist of fate, the company that developed TrapWire also works on
something called "sock-puppet" programs. These are projects designed to
create thousands of fake personas on social media. We will turn this idea
and software against them, creating thousands of phony accounts and use them
to produce a deluge of false triggers for the TrapWire program - essentially
drowning it in "white noise".

4) Finally, the Peoples Liberation Front and Anonymous will do what we do
best. We will find, hack - and destroy the servers where the AI "electronic
brain" of this program is housed.

Operation TrapWire is a direct action of the over-arching Anonymous
Operation USA. TrapWire is but one instance of how the government of the USA
has turned against it's own citizens, designating them as suspects and
enemies. Now those citizens rise, and take back their country and their
freedom. Welcome to the Second American Revolution.
