Brilliant "street map" of Manhattan Island, New York City

This map of Manhattan is brilliant: since much (though obviously not all) of the city is laid out on a grid pattern, it dispenses with drawing most of the actual streets, and instead simply shows the street names, with the direction of the text indicating which direction the road itself goes, and which streets it crosses.
The information density is still rich enough that it's not hard at all to make out what you're looking at, even if the map has been photocopied several times and the resolution has degraded over time as a result.
The map is given to students visiting the USA for the first time, and they may or may not speak any English or have any awareness of New York geography. Nevertheless, I suspect few if any of them have trouble making sense of the map after using it for just a few minutes in the city.
